Well, thanks to coastline taxis, I tried doing another online scrapyard request for an injector to replace number 2 injector in my C3 with the very high leak-off rate. I'd tried such requests before but no joy so had given up. Coastline taxis saying that scrappies must have C3s in by now made me think there was no harm in trying again, and I'm glad I did because I got 4 responses and all for the correct Delphi EJBR01001Z type. Bought one as the price was so very reasonable and within our budget limits.
They've actually sent EJBR01001A but from what I can tell, the Z suffix is just a new reference for the A type, and they confirmed that it'd come from an identical C3 with the same engine. One website is selling the Z type as a replacement for EJBR01001 ending in A or Z...
So, I've got the tools ready to do the job and can't wait to see if this helps make the car better! It'll probably be next weekend I do it as busy with home DIY at the minute.
Just wondered if anyone has experience with these pencil injectors before I do the job, as this used one is a bit on the dirty side with carbon on the nozzle. Apparently it's not advised to touch or clean the nozzle, but leave well alone. I suppose it'd be inadvisable to even try some carb cleaner on the nozzle to clean it off a bit? Can't see any holes in the nozzle, but whether that's carbon or the 0.15mm diameter hole size I don't know. Unfortunately the scrapper didn't cover the nozzle, leak off hole or high pressure connection hole, so bits of carbon grit and gunk have got in meaning I'll have to gently swill to get those bits out. Looks like the high pressure connection has a self-sealing metal disc in it though which should have helped prevent anything getting inside.
I can see why they can be a bugger to remove, and why the scrappie said they had a bit of a time getting this injector out - the end is lightly sprinkled with rust, so I've got my plus gas at the ready when I do the job. I might very gingerly use my fibreglass pen to remove the rust to make it easier to get in. I was surprised at the £10 I had to give Citroen dealer for 4 copper washers (can't buy singly), but the other washers and things were very cheap.
Fingers crossed for a better C3...
