What no paint !

Unread post by vince »

Oh well...main dealers strike again

I called Citroen today to order a touch up brush and can of paint for my Xantia code KPKCR and they have deleted it from range

Surely it doesnt cost much to have a stash of older stuff sat somewhere that they can order from...

I had no trouble getting paint from VW for my old Passat a while back and that was older.....

Bugger...now i have to get some made up somewhere.... :(

Many autofactors can mix paint to the required colour and supply it to you in an aerosol.

I'm sure that doesn't affect you too much vince, what with your car part sourcing skillz 8-)

I was rather surprised to find that the new C5s and C6s are coloured in the exact same shade of white as my Xant!

Hi Vince,

I too can vouch for Halfrauds paint mixing skills (at least in the Coventry branch  . I have had a couple of tins of Rouge Griotte mixed there when spraying the tailgate and spoiler and the match was spot on. They also, for you xant driving bikers out there, mix motorcycle colours to factory spec. too, as I found out when trying to colour match a smashed side panel off a BMW K100 I used to own (Bahama Beige). Again the colour was spot on and the buyer of the bike never even asked if it had been resprayed!

Just as an aside, for info only, I visited my local branch the other weekend to purchase some new rear pads (cheap as I have a trade card - £7.99 as opposed to £19.99) and I was told that they had none in stock, that they would have to be ordered AND that they are no longer carrying them as a stock item...!

Cheers...

Thanks guys but i spoke to a specialist supplier to autobodies today in Liverpool, they can do me an exact mix. They stated there are 4 shades of Mauritius blue listed. One is factory an the others differing shades based on the age of the paint. They said if i can bring something painted along to them then they will match it exact. Rattle can is £9 odd i think which will do me

Might take the fuel flap if i can get it off without breaking it :)

IIRC undo the hinge retaining screws then push out the hinge pin.

How can the paint age pigmentally, in a country that suffers so little sunlight as to not crack BX dashes? 2K is a pretty stable medium.

I suspect that the variations are what's known in the trade as "variants" - subtle (or not!) changes to the colour while there was no official change to the name or code.
