Brand New Xantia - Straight off the Production line!!!

Post by Gammy leg »

Ok Chaps,

What would it you pay for your own brand new Xantia???

With the availablity of more affordable pattern parts, it must surely be possible to fully construct a complete brand new car. With probably the exception of the chassis, just about everything else can be sourced relatively simply from motor factors or specialist manufacturers.

Has anyone ever though of doing this? or better still, done it. What would you be prepared to spend? What would it cost, how long would it take:?:

What mod's might you need to carry out to import one into the UK? Any ideas how much they sell for?

Thank god for the C5, that mk 3 looks absolutely awful. I'd expect a Proton badge on it!

Very true, C5s are never going to win any beauty contests.

If I had a lot of money to burn. I would probably spend it on building not a Xantia, but a Citroen XM 3.0 Ltr V6 Manual Activa Multimedia with every factory extra 8-)

I remember 30 or so years ago Practical Motorist magazine thought about doing similar by building a Morris Minor from the parts bins. The Minor, when in production cost around 500quid, was calculated would cost a couple of thousand from bits.

AH!!

So that's what an Xantia looks like with Golf type lights, fog lamps moved to an odd position, and made smaller!

What's with the over riders borrowed from a RAV4 faux X faux!

A case of taking a car that was styled correctly, and then messing it up with what looks like a factory Barry Boy exercise!

I would assume it's been converted to steel sprung suspension.

Wonder if they'll do a RWD version, as for the 405?

Looks like the design feature of shiny trim on the bumper, and door trims has been retained.

So is this now made to a better quality then the original, or is it destined to also go the milky way in the future?

Well it may be a source of cheap new strips :)

I wonder if it has been converted to springs though.
