Help required MOT tomorrow!!!!

Post by hirsty »

I have an ABS sensor acting up. The light is now permanently on. When I booked in for test, I asked the tester if this would be a fail and he winked and said if the light isn't on I can't fail it. I took this to mean turning off the light would buy me some time to sort it. I have removed car fuse F6 which controls ABS and cruise control but the light is still on. I have also removed engine fuse F1 which is the ABS fuse again the light stays on. Other than physically removing the bulb (which is a pain in the @rse) does anyone have any suggestions?
P.S. The tester is not bent and knows the car well.

Deactivating the warning light would fail the car anyway as it needs to illuminate at switch on then go out to show the ABS has self checked.

The only way to sort this for the MOT without replacing the sensor is to disconnect the faulty sensor and bung a resistor into the socket on the cable. I don't know the value needed on Citroen's though.

Thanks for the quick response. I got the impression he wouldn't look for the light to go on and then off. Also I'm not sure which wheel it is, don't have any tools here and haven't got a clue about electrics, resistors etc.

The ABS light will light up to show any defect with the system , including blown fuses , so in theory it won't be possible to deactivate the light by removing fuses.
Removing the bulb itself is going to be the only way I think. Unless someone on here knows other dodges :?:

Have bitten the bullet and pulled the bulb. Strange how this time round I needed more screws to put back than take apart.
