TCT Activa by Jeth

Unread post by Jeth »

Oh well, guess I could start a blog here aswell:

Ookay, so story begins about a year ago, when i got a urgent need to have Activa, i found one for 1750€, went to look at it, minor glitches here and there, red interior lights (plus some blue neons) :P, some coolant leak and ofcourse all spheres gone bad.

400km drive home went well except i had to add coolant once in a while.

Here's a pic from next day of purchase:

Time went while a was in the army, nothing really happened then, girlfriend just drove it without problems.

Here's a pic of both my cars i had then:

Image

At summer I thought this thing needs lots of more power, so time to start tuning!

So i went to a local tuning store, and bought 600x300x76 intercooler, HKS SSQV style dump valve and few silicones

Image

Friend of mine made new exhaust system for me while i was fixing hydraulic leak

Image

Image

Another friend of mine came to look at my front bumper and then we tought to make some modifications for it.

We start at making a fiberglass copy of it:

Image

Exhaust done and new 17" rims installed

Here's sound sample:

Image

Didn't take much pics of turbo change, ohwell but i did it anyway, stock turbo went for sale and TD04HL-15G went under hood.

I also made and order for DP-Engineering for VEMS Plug'n'play with wideband and 663cc Siemens Deka injectors

Then trackday came, still no sight of VEMS, so i had to go with stock ECU

Image

Here's a pic of engine bay:

Image

Here's some video with stock ECU (150.0KW and 263nm)

Image

And then finally, package arrived! (after a looooong wait)

Image

Quick install and start the tuning:

Image

And video with 1,5bar boost:

Pic of paint ready bumper and grill:

Painted hood, bumper and grill:

Then i got an idea of spaying my IC to black for more "sleeper" look

Image

and here's interior pic

Image

Now that it was working quite good, ofcourse clutch started slipping! (it's 300000km droven so...)

Image

Image

Image

Now i traded my original Activa rims for 17" Mille Miglia Spyder with 225/45-17 winter tires

Image

And now latest issue..

That's the short story of this activa :)

Haven't dynoed it with VEMS, but im going to, and hoping for 240hp figures.

Sorry for my bad english... and im not much of a writer as you might notice :P

No bad English at all Jeth :D Better English than some English speak

Excellent Pictures :D That was a great job on the intercooler and new bumper to fit it! Certainly better than my Finnish!

I have never seen a rear ram broken like that  What happened? It looks like the top balljoint has come adrift. Can you/have you repaired it as I expect just as in the UK, new rams in Finland are very expensive

Lol thanks.

I really don't know what happened to that rear arm, it just suddenly started to feel as comfortable as other citroens :P

New ram 500€

Im gonna get a new one, but right now I can't afford it, so im driving non-activa activa :D

Now that's the way to do it.
If only Barryboys over here had the intelligence to keep the CT's in the Activa rather than bodging it into a 205 (normally wrecking both cars).

About the same cost as in the UK then :(

LOL  That is funny Jeth!

Without the ram in place, there is almost no Anti Roll Bar on the rear except for the very thin cross bar that operates the height corrector although the front ram will still be doing some anti-roll work. I guess the car is rolling rather well now?

Don't go around corners too fast!

I shall be very interested to learn how the ram failed....

I would do something about the air filter and its location. Its too small, its foam (poor filtration compared to paper and even cotton filter media) and will suffer pretty bad from heat soak, plus it looks to have no cold feed to it at all. Just sorting out that issue alone will give 5-6bhp, maybe more!

I like what your doing Jeth, very nice, I hope you hit those power figures, 240hp from the 8v turbo Activa engine would be an achievement, plus you have kept the look of the car :)

Those Mille Miglias look very familiar... did your Activa rims go to a dark coloured V6 Activa in southern Finland? :)

Bet your wallet is hurting bad after that Jeth

Not much change out of 800 Euros I guess...

All the best with the job and do the rear ram first. The front one will then seem very easy :D

Well only dust left in my wallet :P

I checked prices from my price list (im working at citroen garage) and both rams cost 750 euros each!

That's just s**t of money :O

Oh well, it must be done.

Im gonna change only rear ram, as front ram is fine atm (was changed by previous owner luckily)
