Renault Espace 1997 Dashboard problems

Unread post by paulsimo0 »

Can anybody tell me if the 1997 Mk3 Reanault Espace was fitted with a Body control unit (BSI) or immobox. i have sent the dashboard off to be tested at BBA Reman, they have asked that I send them the BSI unit so they can test it as a pair, however I cannot find any such unit in the car, either the BSI or immobox. From what I understand searching the internet, the BSI unit was fitted on vehicles from 1998 onwards and the immobox was fitted on vehicles pre 1998.
I didn't think my vehicle had an immobiliser fitted to the car, is it possible my car (being one of the first Mk3's to be produced) may not have had either fitted.
If any of the units were fitted where abouts on the vehicle would they likely to be.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could confirm this for me, or at least point me in the right direction as to where I may find the answer.

I can't be of much help but as regards to the immobiliser, I'm pretty sure this is just your remote key.
Do you have remote locking? The one with the square key with one button that is a circle of little raised dimples? This key sends the IR signal to deactivate the immobiliser.
Our MK1 Laguna had this, from time to time you'd get in and it wouldn't start. The solution was to point the remote at the receiver on the roof console, lock the car, then unlock it again. This deactivates the immobiliser, if it wasn't successfully done the first time.

Sorry..that's all I can offer!
French is best.
