I've just bought a 2001 C5 LX estate, without roof rails running the length of the car.
I see Citroen sell the rails as an accessory for about £220 fitted, but was wondering if anyone knows how easy they are to fit yourself if I could get some from the breakers. I noticed there are 3 holes in the gutter which I presume is where they fit, that seem to have a sprung plate covering them but I'm not sure what is behind this. Any ideas anyone?
Also did Citroen ever make a dog guard for the estate, there website only seems to show one for the hatchback?

Is that different to the luggage guard then? The luggage guard retracts into a cylindrical tube attached to the back of one of the seats and would struggle to keep a determined Pekinese in my opinion.zilly wrote:Hi yes Citroen make a dog guard - I have one in my car. It hangs in hooks behind plastic covers at the top and slots between the seat and load cover at the bottom.

on a similar theme, does anyone know if you can get a dog guard for the tailgate window, so that I can leave the window open when the dogs are in the back? (once I've managed to work out why my window won't open!)
And I've not had any response to my original question regarding the roof rails

I would think the rails are fairly easy to fit yourself. Its only the LX estate which miesses out on the roof rails, so you should be able to source some quite easily.

Hi there is a very good posting on here about how to fix the back window, unfortunatly I don't know how to find it . I have used it and it works but I changed it slightly in that I attached the wire to the window with superglue and as we all know when it dries it leaves a white residue, this was painted over with matt black model paint. this method is neater than the sticky tape .
