Hello,
Can anyone help with my query? My C5 has failed it's MOT on one item- the nearside suspension is leaking, and the unit needs to be replaced. So Monday will see a hugely painful £470 parts and labour leaving my account.
I think that over the next year, the offside, and possibly the rear suspension units will also need replacing. Is there any alternative to going to a main dealer for this job, and can anyone recommend anyone to undertake the work?
Thanks for any advice!

I suspect that the general opinion would be to try and find yourself a good independent garage that specialises in Citroens.
They say that the near side suspension cylinder is leaking the questions that need to be answered is from where and by how much? Be aware there are a lot of MOT inspectors who are not very Citroen literate particularly as regards suspensions:-(.
There will always be a slight leakage around the piston and this is carried back to the resevoir via a small diameter rubber pipe it is not that uncommon for these to crack and leak.
I would have thought that a serious leakage would have had you reaching for the LDS fluid every few days. If you have not been loosing suspension fluid then it does raise questions in my mind as to why exactly do they think they need to change the cylinder.
