Importing Used Car from Ireland

Chaps,

Any ideas what it is likely to cost, and what paperwork is required, to import a used car from Ireland. My wife is considering bringing her late fathers '91 Merc back to blighty?

I know it's not french, but I don't want to register on yet another forum just to ask this as the same principles would likelyapply.
