Citroen ZX interior heater fan connection problem

Post by bob12345 »

Hi there,

I've been having problems with my ZX's interior fan heater. When driving along it would cut out with no warning and fail to restart. I've open up the dash area and found out its due to a bad connection between the supply and the fan. Looking at the connector (brown one with maybe 6 or so connectors with wires of various thicknesses) a number of the terminal connectors are black and the plastic around them has melted/broken off probably due to sparking from high currents (30A?) and an increasing worsening connection. I've managed to get it to stay working by taping the wire in a bent position which maintains the connection but I can hear it sparking if i turn the fan up to full. Obviously this is not a long term solution and I dread to think if this would lead to a fire risk!

Does anyone know a part number/availability for the plastic connector? I reckon I can slide out each metal terminal and clean them up, then replace them into a new plastic block hopefully solving the issue. Cheers

Until you get a better answer see if there's a type of connector you could substitute or a couple from Maplin's range,

Or just a heavy duty block connector?

if 15 amps would be enough?I think electrical shops do even bigger.
