Ouch! New starter motor in france

On Thursday, loaded up from Auchan and in their car park, nothing from the starter. Family and I bumped it, then did so twice more whilst showing the in-laws around Tobacco alley in Belguim. I needed another motor pronto (ferry home Sat afternoon) so had to buy another at €300. Hence Ouch!
I only paid £70 for the after-market predecessor, mind you that only lasted 18 months and when I took it apart the brushes had disappeared completely to a carbony paste, even the two supply wires just fell out so I don't really know how it ever worked at all.
So where can you buy cheaper parts in France?

you should think twice before bump startting a diesel car, as it can shatter the clutch, i have seen this on a BX after the owner had been bump startting it for a week or two, he was sent to me needing a clutch, on takeing it out the drive/friction plate had shatterd,

once back together it would not start, turned out it needed a set of glow plugs,

Ta. Just found it on Oscaro using the D8R27 code on the original Valeo: http://www.oscaro.com/fiche.asp?ID_GENE ... =NOIDTYPES €192 exchange. Found a few on uk sites for around a ton. French parts for French cars pricier than in Blighty? Weird!
