Berlingo alternator pinout

Can anyone please do me a big favour, & tell me which of the 2 tiny pins of the alternator (1.9 deisel power steering, no air con) should have the purple wire connection?

If I try eeny meeny miny mo & burn out a brand new alternator, I'll remember to post here & let you all know in case one day someone else searches here to find out what to do next... either No. 1 or No. 2 (on the yellow end of the plug) has the violet wire to one hole & a green blanking plug to the other.

Hi! Looking in the Haynes manual, it's the post-Sept 2002 DW series- so that'd be the mk 2?

Theres loads of variations depending on equipment but a mk 2 with DW8 & an RP of 9885. Pin 1 has the alternator excitation wire, i would imagine most variations would be the same.
