Xantia electric window change, Mk II to Mk I

Post by gadgetgricey »

Is it possible to transfer all the workings from the drivers side electric window from a MkII to a Mk I.

Aware from reading some of the posts that the workings are different, so wondered if a full "transplant" could work.

If so, how the hell do you get the workings out. Currently at door panel off, foam off, and all the bolts removed (that I can see), but I cant "see" what to do next.

I'm assuming I've got to disconnect the glass from the frame, but cant see any bolts.

As always, any help would be great.

Thanks again.

Glass is attached by a CLIP... you need to lower the window down untill you can see the attachment in the hole in the door skin..

S2 cars are a metal long type clip that you need wonderfully long fingers to get round the opposite side of the glass to remove the clip..

S2 window winder on the drivers side only (Except Exclusive Trim) have the one touch and anti pinch built into the motor!

The motor and winder cableing will fit into a S1 door and vice versa..

Window runner attachment is at the opposite ends of the runner if you follow it to the top, the nut may be hidden behind foam, same for the rear, and the motor has 3 fixing screws on the motor to the front of the door..

Unfortunally Xantia harness's are hard wired to the main car unlike 306 and XM's were as theres a plug in the A pillar.. so you need to feed out the wireing after unclipping the plugs from the parts in the door...

You will then have to solder each and every wire inside the car to replace the S1 door harness..

Its much easyer to forget the anti pinch and just put in another winder unit from another S1 Xantia with one touch..

If I'm not bothered about one shot, or auto pinch, can I just change the motor and cabling. Basically the window has dropped/failed on my Mk I, and I was hoping to canabalise the bits from the mk II.

Thanks again.
