Hi, it was mentioned a while ago that someone had a pinhole in their heater matrix in their xantia and they used a particular type of sealant to get them by .

I gather there is one make better than most for tiding you over with this problem?

does anyone know what it is called please?

regards Nigel

Everyone has their own favorites for this & I swear by K-seal. Stops most small leaks in literally minutes, the makers claim it is a permanant repair although i personally wouldnt use it as permanant.

Halfords used to sell an own branded product that was absolutely fantastic
and for them wasn't even eleventy quid! For three and a half quid you got
a canister of dry gold filings that was poured into the cooling circuit and sealed
within a minute! Great and never seen anything similar since. K-seal would
be the next best. What's stop-leak Jim?? I thought you used K-seal.

Info and price. It aint cheap...!

http://www.autokits.co.uk/forte-radiato ... -p-42.html

It does work though - have used it on my last 2 Xantias - previous one ran for 3 years + with no troubles, current one has done probably 30k and 18 months since "Forte'd" and it went from dripping water out of the heater box to dry in a couple of hundred miles, and there is no smell at all now.

Its cheaper than it should be, say if a garage sold it ..... though how forte ends up on ebay is a little odd, as its only ever sold directly to garages, who use it in the cars they service. Nothing there seems to account for it being able to be listed on an ebay add. But there is loads of forte for sale on ebay, and at good prices ... i wonder why that is!? :idea1:

Its not extremely expensive stuff, though it does cost more than £5 for garages to buy, quite a bit more, so im not sure how its on ebay so cheaply. Though its probably genuine stuff, inless the bottle is reused. Thats cheaper than i can get it for and we have a garage brimming with the stuff. So seems like a good deal to me!

Not sure how it would get into a motorfactors, handy if so. I think its possible to sell to a motorfactors. I dont know all the ins and outs. I know a regional tyre fitter used to stock it, until they moved onto something which is cheaper and doesnt work.

Forte stop leak is recommended by OE Citroen matrix manufacturers / suppliers Valeo. That for me proves its worth beyond question...

And as for being expensive..... Even if it was £50 it is still good compared to a new matrix and the job of fitting it

Im going to be buying some very soon for mine...as a precaution

Thats interesting the link posted above by RichardW says that forte lubricates the waterpump impellor shaft, I thought the impellor shafts were designed to be lubed by the coolant anyway?
