O/T - Blue Guitars

Unread post by addo »

I was interested to note that three Forum users including myself, more or less owned the same guitar. Pic is from when it was new; rather grainy scan of a photo.

Is it yet another "quirk" of Citroën owners? :?

Jim might have to ban you for non-compliance. Sure it wasn't really dark blue?

As long as it's a Strat, I'm happy..

I sure do have a blue one. Lake Placid Blue. a '62 reissue.

All painted Strats in the vintage days used acrylic car paints as they were cheaply and easily available - hence the colour names. Hank Marvin of the Shadows used a Candy Apple Red one..

My Strat plays through a '68 blackface Fender Champ. I just wish I could play the damm thing...

Yeah but that's OT squared :(

Shining Moon has a lot going for it too, as with almost anything the CJ's are involved with.
IMO Michael Timmins is one hell of a musician and Margo is absolutely unique.

Bea's Song tears me to pieces.

My guitar is a black Les Paul copy that I paid £35 when I was a student in 1992! It stays in tune OK, although the electrics are knackered (and always were). I plan to rewire it as a project to teach myself soldering, but the parts are half the price of a new (really cool!) guitar. And I don't play that much anyway. Well, can't!

Cowboy Junkies Blue Guitar.

As a bit of a music nut I must say I have never gave this band a listen.

That track reminds me Quicksilver Messenger Service with John Cippolina on guitar. Yes very nice will check them out. That is the kind of Venue I love.

Well i have to say Im a Gibson man through and through. :D
Have had Strats in the past and a few Jacksons (floating bridge, nightmare) but I alway end up playing me Les Paul.
I dont work my Les Paul but I have a Epiphone black beauty which has 3 humbuckers and for 8 years its been worked every week, thrown round stages, droped of vans, used as a hammer, had a few beers and the action and sound are still as good as the first day i pluged it in.

Is Les Paul not quite a heavy guitar to play all night with?

Nine or ten pounds; a chiropractor's delight. :P Blue ones are unusual; most people are happy dislocating their necks with the standard colours.

I was more interested overall, in the links between people's inclination to creativity (whether DIY repairs or music) and (admittedly stereotyped) mental profiles by colour preferences...

So what have you come up with then Adam? What can you deduce from those of us with blue Strats?

Seriously interested. Just another piece of information about me, blue is one of my favourite colours....

I haven't come up with anything major, really; more about wondering how many of us think in the same direction.

But - the blue guitar owners do seem to have that willingness to dig into a task and follow it through!
