Xantia ABS

Post by DaveW »

Can anyone tell me how I can find out which manufacturers ABS is fitted to my sons' Xantia - Bendix or Bosch?
It's an X reg. (2000) 1.8, 16valve hatchback.

Neither, Its a Tevis system...

Not sure exactly which model, but ALL Xantias had Tevis system, but S1 cars to 1998 had one version, and 1998 onwards had a revised system but still Tevis..

Paul

PS: Is that North Wales or South Wales, your location?

Hi, Paul

Officially it's North Wales but we are kind of in the middle - 25 miles inland and slightly to the north of Aberystwyth.

The reason I asked about the ABS is that his car is in a garage(non Cit) with a broken O/S ABS ring and the mechanic needs to know the info in order to get a replacement.
Looks like it will be a new driveshaft!

If you know the VIN number we can use the servicebox to check which part you need.

Just checked, your brake calipers are Bosch according to the servicebox, I couldn't find the ABS rings specifically (without being attached to the driveshaft) I'm afraid but I'm hoping that helps.

Dommo,

Yes, I had discovered that the front calipers were Bosch but that is as far as I got also.

Thanks for trying anyway.

Paul,

Did you mean to write Teves?

Sorry Dave, thought I'd be of more help than I was, but no harm in trying I suppose.

Ah Dave your central wales... shame if you werent closer...

You CAN get the rings on their own and heat them on, cheap enough here:

ABS Rings!

Damm sight cheaper then a drive shaft!

Paul

PS: Yes Tevis, Teves, which ever way you spell it Xantia only ever used Tevis/Teves

Paul,

Thanks for that. I will knock the old ring off and measure the seating diameter.
A much cheaper option if the diameters match.

Many, many years ago I did a similar job with a Ford Anglia starter ring - popped the flywheel in a freezer for a couple of hours, heated the ring and it just slipped on sweet as a nut.
