changing washer bottle on a C5 Mk1

Post by StevieOMG »

Has anybody ever done this. I filled mine last night and empty this morning. Assume the bottle is cracked and not a split hose as I have lost the complete contents.

Once you have removed the front bumper its easy to get. Removing the bumper is much easier than it looks.

It may not be the bottle but one of the pumps.

Still have to remove the bumper though...

There is only one pump, two outlets and the pump rotation determines which outlet is fed. The Exclusive with Xenons and washers has another pump for that, I believe.

Bumper is quite easy to remove.

To clarify:

If your car DOESN'T have headlamp washers there's only one pump for both front and rear screens. It's only if you have headlamp washers (as I do) that there's a second pump.

Many thanks. It is a single pump (replaced last year). The pump is working. Can hear the pump and if I fill the system and operate the pump it work, but obviously only until it quickly empties of water.
Any ideas as to where I can obtain a replacement bottle?

I got one from eBay, unfortunately the wrong one :(
It was in for MOT and they were going to change the pump and a headlight* while they were on with it.
They fixed the original leaking bottle with silicone.

*I'd have done it myself, easy job, but had to have the parts delivered to the garage as I'm never home daytime and work didn't like deliveries there :(

PS if you have a hatch thats not an exclusive, its a single pump and single outlet as there is no rear screen wash/wipe ;)
