xsara 1.6i vtr 2001

hi i have just purchased a xsara vtr 2001 1.6 which i really like, but i have noticed when pulling off in 1st now and again it has a 'flat spot' as if i have pulled off in 3rd gear? It then seems to clear? It does have a modified air induction type filter kit, which i am going to remove & replace for a standard box / assembly (waiting for one to arrive to convert back to standard) so im hoping it may be this, but am really worried its something serious....any ideas? p.s it only has 58k on the clock

Could be a dead spot or dirt on the throttle rheostat tracks.

If it has an induction kit on it which hasnt been serviced properly or over oiled ts probably caked the mass air flow sensor with its oil. Best thing to do is take it off and give it a very careful clean up with some electrical cleaner or brake cleaner.
