Anti sink sphere
What would happen if the anti-sink sphere was never changed on the car?

Not for solving this problem.XantiaDaveEire wrote:plenty of citrobics ,the front is soft, rear has almost no movement..so is there any point in changing the anti sink sphere then?
Does your Xantia seem to have the correct suspension height at rear - as the height largely influences the softness.
At normal height, the door sills should be exactly parallel to level ground.
There is of course a slight possibility, that the garage fitted the wrong rear spheres.
F.i. the hydractive spheres are much firmer than the standard non-hydractive spheres.

Check the rear height corrector to make sure the plastic link hasn't popped off.
The anti sink sphere is misnamed and is actually a reserve for the rear brakes for when the anti sink valve is closed. Therefore if it is never changed and goes flat you'd find you'd have none or very little rear braking effort should there be a sudden loss of system pressure.

Ahh - but the rear antisink wont work correctly if the the antisink sphere is flat.Toby_HDi wrote:Check the rear height corrector to make sure the plastic link hasn't popped off.

So either name its got ...
And its only the rerar brakes you are loosing in case the engine stalls during drive, which you will hardly ever notice anyway
Lets just leave it out for now, as its the softness - and probably the height - that are the issues.
