Query re ECU and Bosch fuel pump

Post by KennyW »

Hi all,

As a few of you are aware i have rebulit my Bosch pump.

My question is this what exactly is the role of the wiring which runs through the black plug.

I know wire 1 is the stop solenoid which goes into the immobiliser then to stop solenoid and is earthed on the pump through the bodywork.

What are the purposes of wires 2,3 and 4 :?:

As I am considering not connecting it up as I have bypassed the immob and have a direct feed to the stop solenoid. Does this have issues with the ECU.

Can't remember if they're the wires I'm thinking of, but could they be the ones which go to the advance servo?
Immobiliser pumps are semi electric, and the timing is fine tuned by the ECU using signals from the needle lift sensor and the TDC sensor.

xac,

The brown plug connects to the advance electrovalve which i presume is the advance servo.

The blue plug is the position sensor on top of the pump.

Needle lift sensor is connected to the ECU

That's great Jim,

I have the French Xantia book which has the Bosch Pump wiring circuit but it would be handy to have a english version to confirm my translations.

The BOL is no good whatsoever.

I'm going to rebuild the car hopefully tomorrow.

Hi Kenny,

Here is the circuit of the MK2 Injection ECU and surrounds. The pump is item 1208 and the immobilier module is item 8208. The plug in question is marked 4V NR (4 way Black). The dotted module 82-- one of the wires go to (namely 8220) is the Body Computer and is just a black box as far as the diagrams are concerned.

Hope that helps and good luck with the rebuild :D

Jim,
Perfect it looks the same as my french one.

The only thing I noticed with the diagram is it shows a wire running to the Oil pressure switch but when i was checking my wiring to swap over the solenoid I didn't see the wire running to the oil pressure switch.

I will let you how things go.
