Hi All,
This IS A new one on me tonight!
Ive been pairing up a PLIP and Reciver for someone, useing my own car, and I successfully done it too.. Ok, so what??.. Well... this is what.
Firstly, I removed my working Roof reciver, and fitted a different reciver, then useing my Key turned on the ignition..
Then I pointed the "Other" PLIP at the swapped reciver in the roof and programmed it... ignition off... sucess it worked! Wey Hey I though..
Then - this is the strange part - I then fitted MY ORIGINAL roof reciver back in the car, tried to lock the car WITH MY PLIP and it wouldn't work!! eh!??
So I pointed the "Other" plip and - wooow, the car locked! - Hang on, I put my own reciver back in, but the key code has changed!!
Soooooo - this NOW tells me something new.. and certainly for the Couple of owners of lately who have NOT been able to program their PLIPS.. It seems to me then that the PLIP sending code IS NOT STORED in the roof reciver and therefore MUST BE STORED in the Central Locking Control Box!!!
How does this sound to you S1 owners... Yes by the way, SERIES 1 system, with Infra Red sender.... !
I must doo some more investigations now... something is messing about here.. Ive 3 cars to experiment with.
Regards
Paul

I know this is in the Citroen forum, but the same principle may apply.
I don't know if its any help but on an early 306 (pre-facelift) from what I remember the infra red "code" is stored in the box under the drivers seat (on a RHD) , not the roof unit. Yes I know it does a few other things too.
I'd guess this applies (different locations!) too.
Off topic: Early 106 ones ARE stored in the roof unit (same as 405's) you have to match them up when ordering them.
