2005 C5 138 2.0 HDI

Post by seisporting »

Hey Guys

Just got one of these, car has plenty of power but seems a bit juddery at low revs (1000rpm ish) sometimes and is returning 30 MPG ish according to the computer (although not helped by a very heavy right foot!)
How hard is the EGR to take off and clean out on this engine? it looks to be at the back by the bulkhead? Any tips?

Thanks
Liam

Do you know what condition the particulate filter is in? I know with mine, the fliter blocks itself, then the economy can drop to about 35mpg for 70 mph cruise then a regeneration occurs and it goes back to 55mpg at 70 mph.

It's not intended to pull under load at just 1000 rpm !! 1500 is better for the engine and transmission.
Now using '00 Xantia LX HDI, pov spec :(
My past Citroens :-
'00 Xantia SX HDI, now dead due to accident :(

Car should still sit in traffic ok in 2nd at 1000rpm crawling along, wouldnt expect it to have any trouble?
Seemed ok today (circa 4 inch of snow) at them revs after a blast up the motorway yesterday and a bottle of forte diesel treatment.

Thats exactly the treatment i give our 138 2.0HDi , a good blast up the motorway and some forte diesel treatment to give it a clear out. I find if its used around town annd not used for longer runs it can become a bit choked up and start to chuck a bit at low revs. Doing this sorted it out.

Yes it does pull at 1000rpm, no problems there. Its a very strong engine, pulls very well. I think they do need a bit of a longer harder drive from time to time, to get the FAP filter working etc.

Yeah the engine pulls surprisingley well. Feels much more powerful and picks up speed faster than the figures suggest it should!
Soon to be remapped also!

My brother has a Focus (with the same 2.0 138 engine as my C5 but no particulate filter) and it can judder a bit at low revs when its cold, my C5 on the other hand does not to any degree.
