eight pictures (xm ct, xant v6, xant 1.9td)

Unread post by deian »

her are some pics of the collection past and present so far:

The current 1.9td VSX, I gave it a treat (jetwash and hoover) for accepting the new fix on the hydractive ecu, I also did the engine mount rubber (top left one), and also lubricated the clutch mechanism, and turned down the fuel screw (easier time for her, she deserved it, after being such a good patient).

The old V6, sad to see pictures of her again, neva should have sold her:

What I managed to take appart to get to the autobox dipstick, not as messy as it looks:

And finally, the height of cool:

Does anyone here know where the V6 is now? I can't remember where the guy came from now, and also the XM: L410 GRX?

Thanks

D'oh and we could have let you have another V6 Dei. Sadly it's just a heap of bits and a bodyshell now....

Your VSX looks gorgeous and that XM interior; cool and lush 8)

Your picture of the V6 engine bay was the first I ever saw of the V6 and I recall thinking then how complex and tight it was in there and how I'd never get involved in one...

How times change

Dei,

Your XM Turbo went onto ebay not long after you sold it with a blown Head Gasket I know that, because I remebered the Reg and remeber thinking Oh Wow, I almost bought that car!!

Jim,

Fall in love! My 12v V6 auto XM is identical to that, from the wood to the electronic heater control to the elctric arm rest, to a working glove box that rises on a gas strut... etc etc etc...

It is very retro isn't it, there are people who will hate it and people who will love it, my wife loved it!

XM

Its original! And functional - oh, sorry, the only stupid thing they did was fit the two spoke from 192, it hides the lower switches left and right of the steering colum.. and the cruise stalk too...

Yes i will agree the S1.5 wheel was, pointless really, we all know whats best ...........

A single spoke wheel does make all the difference, you can see how much more visable it makes the dash switches.

Quite apart from the aesthetics, the single spoke steering wheel is so much more practical.

yes i do prefer it much more than any of the others, for feel and grip, its just a very well thought out steering wheel, the MK1 xantia wheel i had in there was ok, certainly felt better than the S1.5 wheel above but still abscured the switches.

Not untill you leanr about the unreliable Electro valves, and the rust being a bit more common too..

Sorry S2 owners...

Mind you Dei, if you can fix them , then thats not a real problem.

pushing the xm to one side for now

I miss the xantia v6 more than any car (even more than my e30 325i), i can just remember starting her up and flooring it away with that wonderful noise and that lush autobox!!

Very nice, that Xm interior is indeed very cool, and nicely specced.

Your VSX looks tidy, though you could do with doing something with its bumpers to get rid of the polish left on them. Some good tips are to use a rubber (yes a pencil rubber) which should get the white polish from the bumper grain. Or i sometimes use white spirit. After both use some bumper care/black. Should transform the look 8) Very nice interior on it, those seats always look great.

Any pics of the outside of your XM?
