Any fellow V6 Xantia Drivers willing to help me??

Post by citroenxm »

Hi

Im wondering if anyone can help me. My V6 has her her a new set of Plugs, but prior to this my inlet manifold has been on off about 5 times, so basically I am after a NEW inlet manifold gasket.

Been to local dealer, but of course its on back order.. or they cant be bothered as they've not given me a delivery date.

So Im wondering, would anyone be willing to goto their local stealer and see if they either have one in stock or can get one next day.. my girl REALLY needs one, as shes a sod when cold missing.. but fine when warm/hot, ive checked all possible vaccuumm holes etc etc, all are ok so it can only be the gasket.

Car: 1997 P reg, V6 24v. P279PRW

Thanks guys. If two of you come back Ill buy both, so it wont be a wasted trip for anyone.

Regards
Paul

A slight problem with your request (in that I presume you'll want it posted to you) is that the card the gasket is packaged in is about 2' x 2', I kid you not. As the gasket is very slim and fragile it won't be the easiest to safely package to ensure it arrives to you unbent. I do have one of these in stock now, I'm just rather concerned as to how to get it to you.

I'd stick it in a proper box at least 3" depth as then it will not get bent and can be foam packed and not cost much to send either.

Reminds me, I must get one in stock. Used my last one about a month ago...

Back it onto some Wood! Ill be paying the sensible postage charge anyway, rather a bit more cost then months waiting and loads on fuel with a missing plug!

Paul, mine had this exact same problem, every time I started the car in the cold weather she would be lumpy until the water temp reached 60C, I too suspected an air leak. However adding a can of injector cleaner* to my tank has solved the problem. its been over a month (and two tanks of fuel**) and no more lumpy when cold issues.

Of course might not be the same problem, but its a cheap easy thing to try as a first point of action.

*I believe it was a bottle of Redex petrol injector cleaner.

**I'm not using the V6 regularly at the moment
