Handbrake cable

Unread post by KP »

Is it different on an activa for the passenger side as the GSF website seems to indicate it is??

not looked at mine yet but would be interesting to know as i can imagine the Ram may have some affect on this.

The N/S cable for Xantia's fitted with an ML5 gearbox require a longer (30mm) cable so yes as Activas are fitted with those it is different from say a TD.

Will,

The bestr is to go to a good factors and ask for an LH handbrake cable for a 110HDi, 2.1TD or V6 if they don't recognise the Activa or Turbo CT.

Quintin Hazell make them and they're cheaper than the genuine Citroen part by a long way.

Here's an extract from the Q-H catalogue showing lengths and part numbers:

Note that the first entry that shpws model names crossed out means "All but these models"

Hope that helps Will..

BTW, what's the RP No. of your Activa? Trying to see which of us has the earliest one...

Jim,

Cheers for that. i'll get one priced up.

Is that just the cable do we know or is it the outter sheather as well?

MyRp is 6947CG from what I can tell. mine is quite early as well but is registered in 1996 so not too early :)

Also is replacing this cable a real ballache as i recall a post someway off moons in the past that it is a very fiddly job that you can not actually see to locate it on the join block or such like?

Xantia h/brake cables are a lot easier than they look like they ought to be. However, on my HDi110 I had trouble with the OS one being apparently too short - and others have noted exactly the same thing. Prehaps not got it sat right in the connection under the floor, perhaps one day I'll have another go. The hardest bit is getting the cables engaged under the car by feel, but once you've got it in, it's easy enough.
