Help! Battery/Alarm problems

Unread post by Penguin »

Hi chaps, me again.

My battery has become knackered so I took it upon myself to change it this morning. All was going well, I had a spare supply set up to ensure 12v remained supplied to the car. But the lead came off when I had to yank the old battery out. Refitted the new battery, opened the car door and all hell broke loose! How do I reset/disconnect the alarm. I have never used the alarm as the plippers don't work on my keys.

Cheers

Edit: Actually, the BoL was useful in this case!!!

Not sure if you've fixed it yet but to disable the alarm, open the door then quickly turn on the ignition and press the alarm movement sensor switch on the dash.

Thats the switch that looks like a PA and has a CROSS going through it..

If it wont work first time, do it this way, open the door, disconnected the battery, have the key in the ignition for the ready, make sure steering lok is NOT activated, connect the battery THEN BEFORE EVEN TIGHTENING THE CLAMPS, go in the car, press and HOLD the alarm cancel button AND turn on the ignition - it should then activate the hazzards as it resets the alarm..

Tighten the battery clamps, input radio code.... Job done.

Sorry for not replying sooner, but the BoL managed to sort me out using the method described by Dickie.

Thanks for taking the time to offer help. Much appreciated.
