Injectors for XUD

Post by evilally »

I've been looking into getting the injectors for my 405 1.9TD refurbished. I've been quoted anything up to £180 to get this done :? I've spotted these on ebay, but I'm not so sure. What are people's opinions of a pattern part injector?

If I bought these, I could flog on my old set and overall they would cost next to nothing.

Oops, just noticed I posted in the Citroen forum  I suppose it's equally applicable to Citroen peeps though.

I have never seen pattern part injectors before but having said that the seller has good feedback and has obviously sold others so I would have a punt, they are much more reliable and durable than HDi injectors. Do you really need new injectors? I have only changed one set on an XUD and that was at 250,00 miles and it didn't make any discernable difference.

Mine is on 131k. Another guy was telling me it made a big difference to the performance of his car, but only at higher revs? I have the injectors out anyway, so I thought I'd stick in some fresh ones. Plus, nice new injectors are apprently good for veggie oil.

If the car was running fine before hand I would just use the same injectors.....I'm a great fan of the motto "If its not broke don't fix it"

IMO, tuning should start at the injectors.

I believe Bosch products are made under license in many different countries and as such their products can vary widely in quality. It is recommened to get new injectors tested for proper break pressure and spray pattern as some people have reported them not being calibrated from "the factory" to specification.

I intend to just get new nozzles rather than buy complete injectors but I'll need a pop tester and selection of shims to set the break pressure first.

Have you got a diesel specialist nearby who could check your existing injectors?

Can't imagine that changing the injectors would do much unless your original ones were clogged or damaged somehow.
Maybe run some injector cleaner through it first and see if that makes a difference?
£180 seems a bit excessive since replacing injectors isn't a very difficult job, just lots of plumbing in the way.
But that may be because buying injectors from Citroen cost more than pattern parts off ebay.
