Xantia bonnet stay clip

Post by mendedit »

I've just been sent a plastic bonnet stay clip which I bought on ebay from an aparrent car dealership dealing in Citroens,
When I went to fit it I found that original clip on my MK1 Xantia was fixed with two tiny scews, the new one dosn't have holes, also the new clips inner diameter for the stay is much smaller.
After contacting the seller to explain that it was the wrong one,
I had a reply informing me that they had sold literally hundreds of these clips over the years and hadn't seen a stay clip with screws fitted to any Citroen!
Can anyone tell me If the MK1's are different to later cars both in thickness of stay and scews, as I need some back-up to get my money back if they're wrong as they tell me they have sent the correct part.
Some part No. and/or exploded diagram would be a bonus.
Thanks.
The world is full of them and a lot are in

Your supllier IS correct, the Bonnet stay rod holder litterally just CLIPS in!

Sounds like someone has modified your bonnet to take a different clip because they were too dam stingy to buy a proper one...

Yup Mendedit, Paul is right the clip just, err..., clips in.

If you take off the bodge, you will see there is a slit in the hollow channel in the bonnet and the clip fits there.

Handyman.
