Heater blower stuck on (Can anyone help me....)

I have a year 2000 Xsara 90 HDI and the heater blower has just stuck on full.
The heat control and direction dials still work, i just can't turn it off.

Really not sure what the problem is.
Any ideas wound be very helpful.

My Xsara has aircon if that helps.

If its the same motor assembly that the Xantia uses, the transistors have probably gone short circuit. You could pull the plug off - but it wouldn't work at all then.

I think I'm gonna try and replace the resistor and see if that helps.

Here's hoping that it sorts it out.

They are transistors, and you will need 2. If you search this forum for MJ11015 which is the part number of the replacement transistors you will find loads of information and instructions for how to replace.

If the Xsara uses a similar setup to the Xantia, this guide will help you replace the transistors.

Don't be fooled by your original transistors not being marked MJ11015 type. They're likely to be marked FW26025. The MJ11015 is the correct replacement and they are available from Farnell

They used to make you jump through hoops to prove you were a corporate client when I used them a few years ago.

Yes, you can Steve although last time I ordered they had a minimum order of something like £20. Never a problem for me.

CPC are the retail arm of Farnell and they never used to carry the full Farnell range (notably the MJ11015) but now I see that CPC do now supply the MJ11015. They don't (I believe) have any minimum order requirements and even if they do, they always have something to tempt you

Rarely buy any electronics components these days.
The last thing was a new bass pot for my Harmon-Kardon speaker system, bought when my grandson Lenny was a new baby, we were in Newcastle at the hospital and dropped in to Aitken Brothers for it.

Lenny is five now and the pot is still in it's poly bag on my windowsill, waiting to be installed

Just bought and fitted a second hand heater motor with resistors all included and still the same problem.
Still the motor goes flat out.
Any ideas on what the fix would be?

Yes it does "Peter N".

It has an auto bit on the speed dial before the 0 marker, I assume that means it has climate control.

I'm really baffled by what could be causing this problem....

Any help/ideas would really be appreciated.

If the switch has an auto position than it's almost sure to have an electronic speed regulator. Can you see a heatsink with a pair of transistors anywhere in the vicinity of the blower?

Most likely that you got a faulty one from the wrecker.
They all pack up in the same way.
