Hi Ken
Assuming its the same as the Xantia keypad then this is the way to change the code
1.switch ignition on and wait 30 secs
2.enter current code and press C
3.enter your NEW 4 digit code and press C
Four flashes of the green lamp coupled with four beeps means new code stored
4.switch ignition off
5.open close and lock the drivers door
6.wait 30 secs
7.unlock and open drivers door
8.switch on ignition and enter new code
9.if things have gone well you are able to start the car
As Mike says you can enter a service code if you need/want to take your car to a garage so that they dont know your own code to do this the procedure is as follows
a.turn ignition on and enter your normal code
b.within 10 seconds press the S button
c.enter your choice of a 4 digit service code and press the S button
the green light should flash 6 times accompanied by 6 beeps
The service code will be accepted until you enter your normal code.To reactivate a service code you need to follow the steps a/b/c.
Hope this helps
Colin

Many thanks for that, I'll try it tomorrow, at least I'll have a number I can remember.
It's the first car I've had with one of these things and I can see it becoming a bit of a pain. I may be back for the other info later

You still need the correct code to do it so it doesent matter if it's on a public forum.admiral51 wrote:Yes you can and its very very simple to do but this is a public forum etc etc etc etc..........uncle buck wrote:You can disable them as well can't you?...
I'm sure I've read on here of how to do it.....saves you having to put the code in all of the time.
Cheers.
Colin
I find that the disable route is the best, as I find it a real pain putting a code in every time you need to start the thing.
Not realy a problem on a public forum as it's not as if you are giving any secret pin numbers out, so I will stick my head over the parapits and say...
Remove the keypad but leave it connected.
Turn the ignition on.
Put your code in.
Start the car.
Dis-connect the wiring plug from the back of the key pad.
Put the pad back in it's hole.
Jobs a good un.
Dont forget to write the last used code down somewhere (logbook) cos if you ever decide to re-fit, you will need the last code used.
Regards
Martin.

Hi Martin
It helps for all us parts scavangers if the "old" code is written on the ECU as well as a recovered ECU without a code is a pain to sort out.
When a new owner gets a car with the keypad in this disconnected state then experimenting with reconnecting is very risky unless you are absolutely certain about the start code. Plugging in with the ignition on resets the ECU to look for the old code on next restart. I only know about XM's but there were 4 different versions of the keypad/ECU combination between 1993 and 1997. Each new version getting extra security features.
