Xantia Caliper Retaining Bolt

Unread post by timber tailored »

Hi Folks,

Just sheared one of the long retainer bolts for the rear disc pads. Anyone know where I can source one on line or know the size and the type of the bolt to do a search or is it a long treck to the nearest Citroen dealer.
Thanks

If you have sheared the bolt theres a DAMM GOOD chance the caliper is suffering the Alloys Corrosion, and is PUSHING the caliper to an angle, you can see this from the wear on the pads..

Shear or remove the other bolt, remove the caliper, remove all the crrosion from the calliper and arm mating face if any, then DRILL out the sheared parts, you CAN use a LONGER bolt and nut and put them RIGHT through to the other side of the mounting area, and then bolt it up together..

It sounds about M8? But if you drill it out you may have no thread left, so use a longer bolt and nut..

When you offer up the calliper put a layer of Grease of similar between the caliper and arm mounting face, to help prevent crrosion again

I think it's the pad retaining bolt being referred to , not a caliper retaining bolt. The pad bolt is a long M5 or M4 from memory , with a thread just at the very end.
Probably a good idea to check for the dreaded caliper to arm corrosion anyway. Even if it's not then it can be coated to prevent it happening.

There are kits on ebay which include two pins, two nuts and two of the metal shields for £6.99 I think.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right
