Scenic Dashboards

Unread post by ACTIVE8 »

There was a story tonight on Watchdog about Scenic dashboards, and the fact that they are failing.

What is failing with the dashboard?

Seems odd, i know just about everything else on them does fail :? but what can go wrong with the dash? You mean the central speedo thing?

While we had ours (a new shape 1.9DCI) it needed 3 recalls, one to loctite the rear seatbelt bolts in as they unscrew. One to replace the clips in each window as the windows could fall into the door. And the other to inspect the brake pedal for cracks - thats just what you want isnt it, the brake pedal snapping off!!!

Not to mention the numerous warranty claims it had. I think the dealer had it almost as long as we did

Nice cars but the worst build quality and reliability possible.

Apparently the central dashboard is failing taking out the speedo, fuel gauge etc.

Here's some more info on it with the film as shown on the show.

Also the whole show should be on the iplayer, and repeated later on this week on the TV.

Doesnt sound good, although at least Renault has done something towards fixing them. Having to pay £100 towards the repairs isnt too bad, since its out of warranty.

That Watchdog piece tonight was sensationalist rubbish, but what do you expect?. I'd be more interested in getting Watchdog to look at the huge price fluctuations in the dealer network for the replacement of the display. Some paid 400-500 quid, others nearly 800 :o

Dodgy French electrics are to be expected imho. If you want reliable electrics buy a jap car

Recent SAABs suffer from the same problem, on of the reasons I bought the C5 and not the 93 Aero.

Dash board problems aren't isolated to one make of car....Ford have had problems with the Focus, Audi with the TT & others, VW with some in their range...the list goes on.

The Renault problem has been ongoing for quite a while & other vehicles in the range have also suffered problems....it a shame that a manufacture has to be pushed into replacing what are obviously defective parts by a TV programme embarrassing them .

Cheers.

not just electrics, bmw and their cracking wheels, wheels shouldn't crack!! they said it "wasn't" a manufacturing problem, well if not then it's a design problem, they turned a blind eye for ages and ages, until watchdog went to their hq to embarass them too!
