clutch problem (SOLVED)

Post by oscarloco »

Hi guys

I still have the problem with the clutch of the ZX, but its getting worse. When the clutch pedal is not pressed, there is a whirring noise coming from the gearbox side. The noise goes away if I pull out the clutch pedal a little bit.

The noise is worse when I press the pedal and after a while, the pedal gets very stiff and its harder to change gears.

I suspect that the cable is gone. What do you guys think?

Sounds like it's the release bearing that's giving up :( cure would be a new clutch. :?

OK, thank you. Just for curiosity, why is that if the thrust bearing is worn that the clutch pedal gets so stiff? :?:

It's probably seizing up and will end up burning it's way through the fingers on the clutch. :(

as the clutch plate wears down the presute plate fingers come out ferther and ferther, and on the push type clutch we have on the XANTIA the fingers go in ferther and ferther this is what usualy makes the pedel heavy

Well, sadly your prediction became true. The release bearing gave up and desintegrated plus 4 fingers broke- I had to replace bearing, pressure plate and clutch disk bringing the total to
US$310!

But at least I can do really nice burnouts when I rev the engine to 4500 rpm and let out the clutch hehehe
