Last week someone was kind enough to put a link on the forum for http://www.premierpaintpots.co.uk I've been looking at the EYTC code for Hurricane Grey - the colour used on my C5 and I can't understand all the various choices - which is why the aerosol I've had made up doesn't quite match the car. I've copied the PaintPot entry for EYTC code:-
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET.________1996 | 2008 | 56978
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET. S!H_____1996 | 2008 | 813010
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET. S!GE.D__1996 | 2008 | 763046
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET. D______1996 | 2008 | 723369
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET. BL_____ 1996 | 2008 | 768857
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET. H_______1996 | 2008 | 778937
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET. BL.H____ 1996 | 2008 | 706259
EYTC_ GRIS ORAGEUX-MET. GN.H____1996 | 2008 | 709149
Now the questions. Why so many choices? What's the significance of the letter codes following the French name - Gris Orageux? The last column is headed panel number. How does that relate to the colour of the car? Anybody got answers?

Hope this clears it up for you... They are shade variants and the code signifies what the difference is between them. Without colour chips, you will not know what your shade is, as the same colour could of been used on a C4 but built in a different factory and therefore a different supplier.
Always try standard first and make an educated guess. If its too dark, try a lighter. Too dark and very blue, try bluer lighter and so on.

Thanks for that info. Presumably what I got was the standard colour but it's slightly darker. So I'm looking at 14 quid a go for every try?XantiaMan583 wrote:

Ask the place your getting it from for their colour chips and then compare the shades on your car to see what is closest, apart from that, it is trial and error!JohnD wrote:Thanks for that info.
