Xantia fuse panel

Unread post by olly »

Does any know what fuse does what in my 1995 (M) xantia 2.0i SX???
I did my first long night drive in it last night and noticed the needles on the speedo and rev counter were not lit like on the fuel and temp gauges.
This means i cannot tell how fast i am going [;)][;)].
Are these both on a seperate fuse ( unlikely ) or do i need new bulbs ????
If its the bulbs how do i get to them????
cheers olly

Olly -
Take a polish language training course [:D][:D]
- because this is most definately found in your Xantia owners handbook [;)]

No they're not on a separate fuse, so yes it will be the bulbs. You need to remove the instrument binnacle to get to them - see Haynes - although I understand it is possible without remviong the steering wheel if you have rake adjustment on the wheel. Make sure you change all the bulbs - you will not want to do the job again in a few weeks! In the mean time try a gentle tap on the top of the dash this may bring the bulbs back to life - works for my fuel gauge!

A seriously idiot-level question coming up!
You haven't just turned down the brightness controller accidentally with your knee, have you? It happened to me very soon after I got my 95 Xantia 1.8i, and it took me ages to find the cause because the controller wheel (under the steering column housing) wasn't even mentioned in the handbook.
Just a thought, anyway. It would be fascinating to know how many Xantia owners are cursing their dimmed-down dashboard lights because they don't know of the wheel's existence.
