Petrolheads On Five

Post by ACTIVE8 »

This Sunday (20th September) Channel 5 are having what they call a petrolheads day where they are showing several films.

Amongst the list they are showing are...........

@12:20hrs Fast and Furious: Movie Special

@14:45hrs Cannonball Run II (Film)

@16:55hrs Back to The Future (Film)

@20:00hrs The Fast and the Furious (Film)

@22:10hrs Ronin (Film) 8)

The last one the classic Ronin is the one of more interest to us, due to the action on the streets, and the many french cars involved in it! 8)

Well I've got my hard drive programmed for Ronin, and although I've seen it before I am looking forward to having it on file! :wink:

"The car"....i bought that for my dad when it came out on DVD.

Im sure George Barris built that custom on a Lincoln Town car model.

Just watched the recorded Ronin on VD. Very good film!

Picking out another one of the good bits, I wondered what was going on when the camera focussed on the cup he put down at the edge of the table :D :D
Was that a Pug 605 too?
Also as it just me or in one of the chase scenes did they swap from a Mk1 XM to a Mk2?

yes some of the front on and stunt shots were of a MK1 XM (lovely creature) but they were carefull to keep the close up shots of the rear end all of the MK2 with the limp spoiler.

Course they did - continuity isn't Ronin's best forte for the Xm chase.
Not only does it change grille from s1 to s2 (fairly obvious so not a Citroen
anorak spot!) the wheels change from the flat 24v alloys to wheeltrims.

If the engine was supposed to be a 24v, they don't scream their nuts off
like that either and since when did sills self straighten in side impacts as I
could do with that on mine!!

Still like the film though.
