Rev Counter Reset Mk2 Xantia

Sadly I left the Ign on and discharged the Battery.
For some reason this caused Both the 'Spedo' and the Rev counter to put their needles at 6 o'clock.
The spedo has zeroed OK but the rev Counter is still there
Is there a fix? short of removing the instrument Panel and flicking it back .
I recall Xac mentioning both these are stepper motor driven devices.
any suggestion or advise would be much appreciated.

Not I.

I believe that you don't need to remove the steering wheel to take out the instrument panel on the Mk2s so there is always that option.
Otherwise some have suggested in the past drilling a small hole and using a wire to knock the rev needle back.

No need to drill a hole, you can do it through the gap around the trip meter reset pin with a suitably thin piece of wire.

I used a strand of copper telephone wire, it is easier than it sounds.

Can you reach the Taco with a wire from the spedo trip?
The speedo went back on it's own when power was restored.

I took out the instrument panel on my Mk 2. It,s fiddly more than anything else. I replaced all the bulbs to be able to read the instruments at night and turned the whole unit upside down to get the needle back where it should be. You don,t need to remove the steering wheel but re-aligning the column cowl is a bit of a pain.

Brilliant Thanks to everyone, I could not find any suitable telephone wire but managed to strip out a few strands of an old throttle cable a bunch of 3 gave a wider end which I think helped. It took a few attempts to get it up to the 12 o'clock position where gravity took it the right way down,

Yes I done it the same way, and it's not too difficult to do.

Pleased to hear you got it down, it's a right pain when it does that.
