C5 2.0 HDI VTR Hesitation or Hunting

Post by Delta Wizard »

Hi

My 2007 C5 has started "hunting" when on a light throttle or under load (say going up-hill) - this problem seems to come and go - the dealer says he has never heard of the problem but I have a vague recollection of seeing a topic that suggested it might be a dirty air-flow meter. Unfortunatly, despite spending 2 hours trawling through the forum I can't find anything relating to this issue - does anybody have any experience of this problem?
TIA

C5 2.0 HDI VTR Hesitation or Hunting

Welcome to the forum Delta Wizard.

There are a plethora of things that might cause the hunting, the MAF being a primary candidate.

Try spraying it a few times with carburettor cleaner and see if that helps.
Be very careful with it though, it is very sensitive to mechanical damage.

It should come out of the hose but I was too chicken, convinced that I would bust the clips holding it in and cause even more problems. It is easy enough to loosen the hose though.

Hi

Thanks myglaren for the info. I am located in Bromsgrove.

I would still be grateful if anyone can point me in the direction of any other postings relevant to this topic - I am having trouble convincing the dealer and the warranty runs out at the end of the month :(

I was going to suggest that if you were to turn up at the rally over the weekend then someone there might offer to read any fault codes and indicate where the problem may lie.
Unfortunately it is a bit of a hike.
