Xsara Oil Light

Post by boxermeg »

Hi there
I am currently driving a 2.0 hdi 110 Xsara. The car is running fine however yesterday I noticed that the oil light comes on when the handbrake is applied. No other indications and as I said the car runs fine....oh, the oil level is ok.
Has anyone had this before or point me in a logical direction??

cheers....Andy :D

Im assuming this is a non multiplexed mk 1 ? if so then its a faulty instrument panel, they somehow get spiked & it often occurs after disconnecting the battery or jump starting. I suppose it could be repaired by someone good with electronics but failing that it's a new panel or just live with it.

so disconectting the battery and then reconectting wont work then,

i would think if the oil warning lamp is on all the time you wont be aware if there is a real problem with oil presure,

or dose the hand brake light allert you to that now

i do have a couple of new old stock instrument panels, which i think at least one is a Xsara,

if you need to go that route

The car is a 2000 W plate. The battery has just been replaced and it did have to be jump started. I guess I know have a multifunctional oil light...the handbrake light is now lifeless.

Thanks for the comments
