Couldn't find it on Hill's site so perhaps it's been rescued?

It might be a condition of the insurance writeoff that it has to be broken. Some years ago, I came across an immaculate Xantia Exclusive, only just taken in at a breakers, and asked how much they wanted for it complete. I was told that they weren't allowed to sell it complete, and had to break it, despite the fact that there was no visible damage, and they confirmed that it was driven into the yard with no problems at all :(

Yea, I had that at our local breakers, when I first discovered XM's and wanted a Diesel, an IMMACULATE LOW MILAGE Sd, with alloys, a runner too, when I asked, they said, cant go back on the road, I can sell it you, but will have to cut the chassis numbers out, meaning parts only...

6 years later, it was still in the yard, on the deck, with a car on top, so I grabbed a load of parts of it and noticed just 83k on the clock!!!! I knew it was a nice one when it came in..

Totally mad, why on earth will that not be allowed on the road again?

Seems odd, surely its better for the insurance company to pay for repairs than a new car. Unless its lost its identity or been involved in a serious incident.

There are cases where the 'madness' of an Insurance company decision or
oner by the Courts despatches a fully working order car to compulsory scrap.

I followed up an ad years ago for a rare s2 GTi Turbo CX Prestige in black that
could ONLY be sold in pieces - yes, I could have as much of the removable
items off that I wanted but the chassis/identity was NEVER to see the road
again. I guess it's a similar scenario to that Impreza Clarkson and the Army
had a play about with!

Doesn't make it feel good seeing a car many folk here would like to run being
needlessly ripped to bits but as we've seen with the Government scrappage
scheme, common sense doesn't enter the equation.

It does break your heart but like clarksons impreza it is a good idea and in some circumstances it should not be allowed back on the road, i would guess by the very light damage it was probably used in a crime of some sorts or was the gains of crime and was taken to be crushed/broken, think about it, if someones punishement was to have their car taken because it was paid for with drug money it cant be sold on because A, the new owner could wake up with a horses head where swmbo was the night before (although some may not think this is a bad thing) and a big void where the car was parked last night or if the vehicle in question was auctioned whats to stop the wife obducting, horse murderer getting a mate to go down the auction house to buy the car back?

Service Citroen is awesome, it shows me pictures of all the parts i used to be able to buy............
