HELP!!!!!CANNOT OPEN THE BONNET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by sklig »

Hi all, first time in the forum so hello to everyone,i have got a C3 desire 1.4 2005,the problem is i cannot get the bonnet to open, there is no resistence on the bonnet handle which tells me it is broken or stretched, can anyone give me any suggestions of a way to get the lid up,i dont think it is possible to get to the catch from underneath, but might be wrong.(SOMEONE SUGGESTED SMASHING THE PLASTIC GRILL)very expensive way,i would appreciate any suggestions in cracking this......

Don't know the C3, but can you get at the actuating lever? Is the handle intact, or is the wire now hanging loose? If it is, can you get pliers onto it?

Have you tried one of these things????

Seriously though,

Have a word with a main dealer, I do know that on the BX there was a special tool that slipped in by the headlamp and pulled on the catch, this was very simple to make out of a coathanger, there may well be an easy route.

Failing that, the tin opener maybe the next option..

Regards
Martin.

Hi rmunns , yes i did manage to get the bonnet open,a friend pressed down on the bonnet and at the same time i pulled the cable and up it came, the problem was the locking catch but a spray of WD 40 soon put things right ............Cheers Sklig......... :D
