HDI injectors removal .

Unread post by Krede »

I just bought a set of injectors off ebay for my 110 hp Xantia HDI as the ones In the car have done over 400000 km and rattles under load.
The ones I got have the number : 0445110 076 .. and I was assured that they are a direct swap/replacement with my older model injectors (0445110044)
Can anyone confirm this?

I've replaced a couple of commonrail injectors on Mercedes Gwagon CDI's.. and they didn't cause any trouble
But I have heard that the injectors might "resist" removal quite a bit.
Any thoughts/Advise ?

Regular doses of penetrating oil/ Coca-Cola for a few days before trying to remove them.

I don't know about compatibility - sorry.

Thanks... not sure I'll be willing to let go of my cola for such a project though.

I think Cola is recommended because it's slightly acidic and softens the corrosion/carbon build up.

Would that be the same reason, why it is so popular when mixed with a healthy shot of rum ???

I guess so, Bacardi and coke is nice but generally I stick to Tea or Guinness.

On a serious note, it's mentioned as being bad for your bones, more so if you are of the fairer sex. It's said that the acids it contains (phosphoric) can aggravate osteoporosis. Whether you believe such stuff I leave up to you.

Good luck with the injectors, give them a good long soak and take it steady. A fair few HDi's have been wrote off this way.

Hi Steve,

Sorry, the forum naughty word filter has zapped your post a bit there. I guess you mean ladies of the female gender... Mine are OK; they drink milk by the gallon!

Still, one reassuring thing is that if you do drink too muck coke, at least you'll not go rusty. Phosphoric acid is a major ingredient in most rust killers.

that being the case, I reckon my internals are spotless! ... I think they put some kind of heroin in it as well.. keeps us hooked on the stuff... Been drinking WAY to much of it the last couple of years...

Hi Jim,

Only just noticed, that'll teach me. Still it makes for interesting reading.

For people that like soft drinks, Coca-Cola are trying a 50 (!) flavour drinks machine (soda fountain?) in a select few places in the US. Now if we had Stout vending machines....

When are you up to Sheffield Jim?
