urgent question for crankshaft pulley

Post by lazza »

Hi

Have just changed the crankshaft pulley, with a new bolt and extra thread locking compound just to be sure.

When tightening (using a long bar for leverage) I did it to 40 Nm then 60 degrees, or about

But the crankshaft moved about 20%, even with the handbrake on and fifth gear before tightening. Is this normal???

it's hard to tell if the crankshaft moved more, or the bolt tightened

yikes.. help please

Hi well how good's the clutch and you will get some give with springs in clutch plate.plus take up through drive train. Try rocking car some day with it i gear brakes on etc and see how much play you get you will be surprised?
Ie if you get 2mm of give in say four componets thats 8mm+ at other end.

Providing you have applied Locktite or similar, I don't think its going to move with the torque applied so far.
