Hi. Just bought a Y reg picasso 1.8sx. lovely car, but this warning comes on now and then when running, then the fan comes on for a while, then it 're-sets the temp to normal (2bars)
No cooland lost, radiator etc feels ok and oil ok. Is it one of these pesky sensors? If so where is the sensor please, as I think they are quite cheap to buy, as oposed to having Citroen fit them!
Thanks in advance,
Paul.

Hi,
Had similar fault on my C5 2.2hdi, just after starting from cold the temp gauge would go full scale and the stop warning come up for a second or two. Everything would then rest to normal and the problem not re-occur while engine warm.
Replaced the temp sensor (£11 from Cit) and problem fixed.
On the HDi the sensor is on the passenger end of the engine and held in by a spring circlip, but some engines are screw in. If yours is spring clip type don't forget to get a new O ring seal with the sensor.
Biggest part of the job is the partial draining and refilling the cooling system.
Regards
John
