HDI injector correction value

Post by Krede »

Cheers!..

I recently purchased a high mileage Xantia 2.0 HDI, that at first seemed in good condition, but has later turned out to be in desperate need of some proper service!.

When under load, my injectors omits the "rattle " that has been mentioned in several other posts.

Through my work , I have access to a Bosch test computer, but I have no idea what correction values are within the acceptable range..

Anybody know them?

Regards
Christian.

From what I can gather they should all, when added up equal zero?

ie if 1=-1, 2=-3, 3=4 and 4= 0

But is was a long time ago that I was told this so could (and probably will ) be wrong.

I am afraid, you are right.

Absolute values below 1.0 = don't care. Above 2.0 you need to pay visit to a Bosch specialist. Have heard, that adding some 2 Liters of oil for two-stroke engines in the tank improves the correction values. The question is, for how long :-)

Bosch specialist
Hmm and what can he do besides taking my money and telling me that I need some new injectors?... I dont think that any adjustment is possible..?

I would never mess with two stroke oil in the fuel tank, HDI's are very "fuel sensitive" as far as I know :)

Well, I am not familiar with the capabilities of the Bosch specialists in Denmark, but in Germany and in the Czech Republic they can clean the nozzles with ultrasound or are able to change the nozzles. You do not always have to change the whole injector, what would be the case of Citroen dealer.

It is your decision. If you are more interested in that topic, there is much experience with HDi engines, you can find in the internet.

I use 2T oil on 2x C5-II 1.6HDI 110CP with no problems at all and lot of people from Citroen Club Ro use 2T and they are very happy with the result.

I monitor myself all parameter & injector correction with my Lexia and I can't see any problems using 2T in percent of 1:200. I have more than 2000km with 2T.

Acceptable corrections: -/+5mg/stroke injector and I fount that reading can variate sometime -/+1 depend of fuel and driving style.

I suggest you to take the car for a drive at high speed/rpm after you change fuel filter and retest again after this to see the correction.

The best test for injector is to use containers on return line from injector and check the difference on all 4, this has to be small.

I tried 2 stroke in the fuel of my HDi a couple of years ago, seemed to make it run marginally smoother for a while but it is hard to tell.

It certainly didn't appear to have any detrimental effect, and I've previously known it recommended by diesel injection specialists.
