which ones had asbestos brakes?

Post by citrov6 »

was just reading an article, said PSA started taking away asbestos brakes and clutches between 1993-1996, does that mean phase 1 xantias do or don't have asbestos linings?

I would suggest on those figures, they may, or may not. It seems that most linings up to that time used asbestos and I must confess to breathing a lot of brake dust since the 1950s - bit I'm still here at the moment, although my wifes uncle who worked in ships engine rooms wasn't so lucky!

Ever wondered how much of that asbestos is released into the surrounding air when cars brake, and what the cumulative effects on people are? Take a used pollen filter which is black from road dust - how much asbestos is there I wonder. Would be interesting to find out.

Still, easier to blame everything lung related on smoking. Not diesel and other carcinogens.

glad to hear you are surviving still

does make you think that we must be safer in a car with filtered air than walking

i would have thought by now there arnt any of the earlier XANT's running around on there original pads, be it with or without asbestos,

as i though all replacement pads were now and have been for quite some time, been asbestos free,

the type we use now seem to have a fishy smell
