Radio Codes (again)

Unread post by olly »

I have seen alot of postings down the line regarding the old, Buying a second hand car with no radio code.
Do any of you know a good dealer who will give me the code over the phone when supplied with the VIN?
I spoke to Citeon and they say I have to visit the dealer for security reasons.
This is all very well and understandable but my car is 9 years old and I doubt this is the best soundsystem in the world.
All I want is to listen to somthing, other then the voices in my head [}:)] , while i save up for a nice sony unit that can use the steering wheel controls.
Any info will agin be great

cheers for the info! [:)]
I ended up giving in and paying the tenner to my local Citroen dealer ( for around 10 seconds work on his database) never mind system now works and it sound pretty good considering the age.
One more bit of info please...
This relates to my other post requesting some poor sod to spend the whole weekend scanning the owners manual [;)] .
1. what are the more "odd" buttons on the stereo?
2. why did it "beep beep beep" at me when i pressed the dolby button?
3.how do i store channels?
also
4. i read the SX has heated mirrors, how do they switch on?
5. has the SX got heated seats? cos i can see a white wire poking out of the back of one.
6.what does the switch on the dash with the little speaker crossed out do?
and finally when i put on the heater smelly steam comes out of the vents, - leaking matrix thingy??? Is this a pricey job??
Any advice is welcomed with open arms and a blaring stereo

If your car is equipped with heated mirrors, these are usually operated in parallel with heated rear screen.
Seatheaters requires a twin-cable (+12V, chassis).
Single wire could be the seat load sensor switch, for illuminating the seatbelt warning light/sounder (if fitted).
Heater mats are prone to defects, might be your car is fitted with these, but defective. NON-original standard heater mats, under cover fitting, are quite cheap, about 10-15 quid ea. Electrical connection simple.
Genuine spareparts heater mats will cost you an arm & leg.
donno about your radio-q's.
The button with crossed speaker, is most likely a speaker cut-off switch, when using cellphone.
Leaking matrix allways points to either pricy garage repair, or troublesome DIY work. Lots & lots of bits must be taken apart. Give it a few weeks chance, ensuring it's not simply water collection in air-intake somewhere. Look for any air-intake drain hoses blocked by foreign matters, like leaves, dirt etc.

The switch on the dash like a speaker with a cross through it ( it is the left one of three switches to the right of the steering wheel) is to overide "The volumetric protection" . With the ignition off and the alarm disabled if you press this switch for at least 2 seconds the warning lamp to the left of the clock lights up and this means the ultrasonics will be disarmed for the next arming of the alarm ( you can leave your dog in the car without setting off the alarm). When you next disarm the alarm the ultrasonics will be reset to normal for the next arming.
