When you press the a/c switch, if there's enough gas, the compressor's clutch is engaged and it starts compressing the gas and working.
However, if yours was making a loud clanging noise, I'd say your compressor was faulty and has finally given up the ghost.
Chances are it's never been re-gassed until you decided to get it done, and consiquently has been run over it's life with ever decreasing oil levels which has taken it's toll on the compressor.

so is there anyway to get it working? as the device installed the air con pressure, said there was no leaks.Xac wrote:When you press the a/c switch, if there's enough gas, the compressor's clutch is engaged and it starts compressing the gas and working.

My air con is making no noise at all (although hot and cold flow are still working.)

Try and find a good a/c specialist in your area and take it along to them for full diagnosis.davidp456 wrote: so is there anyway to get it working? as the device installed the air con pressure, said there was no leaks.

If your compressor has died then you'll need it replaced.
Did kwikfit charge you as without the compressor running you wouldn't have had a drop in vent temperature, and at our local if it doesn't drop by a certain number of degrees, they don't consider the regas a success and don't charge.

Um,
this might sound really dumb and simple.... But did they put gauges on and see what the system was doing ?? It could be working fine, but you have mixer flap problems.

I have no idea what mixer flaps are you talk about but as previously mentioned the compressor is not engaging in.
hi thanks for that, do you know where the pollen filter is or is there a diagram on here somewhere?gwb wrote:How old is your car? If it's a few years old and the pollen filter has not been serviced regularly, the temperature of the car won't change much. Try taking it out to see if it starts to run cold.
