Hi,
I wondered if dropping the top engine mounting and letting engine down would give more accessablity to the tensioner area.? The bolt holes are there to fit the manual tensioner too, so why didn't cit keep on with that type.?

There should be no need Greg, at least there was no need on the 2.1TD. Provided you can get to the large bolt (which will be hiding behind the bottom hose), you'll be able to get the tensioner out.
The real tricky one to get at is the lower spring Allen bolt which has to be accessed through a hole in the HP pump casting. A long ball-ended Allen key is the tool of choice here.
