19td engine change
hi whats a reasonable price to change engine on zanty 1.9td? others out just needs pump installing. i think already sett up on marks as he normally leaves them done.or someone closish to me that can do job. i'm in E london. how hard are they to take out of top instead of underneath? did take a m16i out of a bx out top as flat on floor all pipes gone! but did chop half front of car off with cutter!lol

The engine normally comes out of the top, the process is lengthy though, because, as you will know if you have already taken the other one out, there is a lot to remove and disconnect. The Haynes manual will give you the necessary steps - but not neccessaraly in that order.
To pay someone to do it will proabaly cost at least as much as the car is worth, but if you like the car its probably worth it.

Something done on a normal day here!
Its not a bad job, but needs to come upwards! If you want to take it downwards then you need the following removed to make it easyer, as they catch on some or another:
Oil filter
Injection pump
Turbo - so thats BOTH manifolds..
If lifting height is a restriction, head off so car doesn't need lifting too high..
Regulator unit
Altinator
HP Pump
Air con compressor IF FITTED.
However, if you lift upwards at a steep angle gearbox down, it comes upwards with everything attached, except regualtor...
Id fit an XUD for about 100 quid up here, but as useual, your a fair distance...

hi cheers for offer matey.ive been getting alsortsa prices one say's £200 to me would be £350 don't know what hes going to fit for that mayb'e resta streets?lol.don't mind reasonable price but not in market to be striped up! could do me self if had hoist etc got resta tools.it's not that much more diff to some of the pigs ive worked on.mini's seam well stuck in that group?.i think 1.9 zanty's are actualy quite reasonable to work on great with sus just put on high to do oil change and bits underneath.try some of the so called more normal ie ford/vauxhall car's plenty of skinned knuckles.citroenxm wrote:Something done on a normal day here!

Ill DEFENATLY let you know when I get my 2.1td XM and get the unit and box out of that! But for an XM, its easyer as the front end comes away leaving a great big hole, unlike the Xantia, you gotta work over the slam planel...Peter.N. wrote:I will remember that Paul. How much for a 2.1?
Off top of my head, possibly the same!

just remember a couple of axle stands too when under there (I am sure you do that anyway)sus just put on high
the other way of keeping the car up if something goes wrong with the suspension, is your ribs
engine removal,,, I doubt anyone could do it in less than 3-4 hours.. doubled.. so its going to be a fair whack from a garage for labour..
a hired hoist and a long sunny weekend is my suggestion there are plenty of us here that can guide you through the pitfalls, but there aren't that many really
